Disneyland Guidebooks

The Disneyland Guidebooks all had references to the Disneyland Hotel, usually at the end of the book. They often had wonderful color shots showing the many amenities of the Hotel.

1955 Disneyland Guidebook - The very first Disneyland Guidebook with the Disneyland Hotel prominently mentioned inside. This includes the rendering done by the architectural firm of Pereira and Luckman.

1961 Disneyland Hotel Mini-Golf Scorecard

I am often asked, what are some of the most valuable items in my Disneyland Hotel collection. The 1961 Golf Scorecard pictured below would have to rank right up there. This is valuable for several reasons: 1). It is the first issued golf scorecard 2). It has copyright 1961 and was only used about six months 3). Perhaps the rarest aspect.....it has no scores written inside from playing the course. It was not written in. There are some like this one that have a 1962 copyright date but 1961's are very hard to find. In 1963, the scorecard was colored (as well as the actual mini-golf course). You can see a copy earlier in this blog of a 1964 version of the scorecard.

Mixed Bag

Just adding some more pictures. I still can't find any others of Jack Wrather and Walt Disney together other than on opening day of the Hotel in 1956. There has to be more pictures of the two somewhere.

Some Real Early Shots

These are some real early shots of the Disneyland site and the early construction of the Disneyland Hotel.

Overhead Disneyland Site - The Disneyland Hotel site is in the middle left of the picture. The ranch home that would be the first restaurant (Little Gourmet) is visible in this picture.

1956 Pink Disneyland Hotel Brochure

This is the elusive brochure that was the most difficult to obtain for me. I now believe I have them all. I actually had another one of these a couple of years ago but it was somehow misplaced. This is the first brochure to use actual pictures of the Disneyland Hotel. It's the second 1956 brochure and is very rare. I love the 50's colors and the 50's look of this brochure.

1966 Memo

Jack Wrather kept close contact with Disney and what their plans were with expanding Disneyland. Almost every Disneyland expansion coincided with a Disneyland Hotel expansion. In this memo, Jack is trying to gauge Disney's plans for the Park so he too can plan accordingly for the Hotel.

Conference Rooms Late 1960's at the Disneyland Hotel

More very rare pictures of the conference room facilities from 1968-1969 at the Disneyland Hotel. I am hoping that one or more of these bring back some memories of a conference or company meeting and that person can let us know where the room was. The picture with the pool outside of it is a real mystery to me. Sometimes I study some of the many pictures I have of the Disneyland hotel and I learn something I never knew before. I see little buildings that were added or taken away and I wonder what exactly those were. Parking lots suddenly materialize or trees disappear. The Hotel was in a constant state of change.

Late 60's Disneyland Hotel Conference Room - I can't for the life of me figure out where this room was located. It looks like a pool or water feature outside the window. It does not look like the Olympic Pool. Anyone?

Possibly the Oak Room conference facilities? Mr. Kittle, can you tell if this picture shows the Oak Room Conference room?
