1955 First Brochure

This is probably the rarest and hardest to find of the Disneyland Hotel brochures. It lists only 104 rooms and was put out even before the restaurants were opened. They were using a converted ranch house as the Little Gourmet Restaurant. I would love to find a photograph of the interior of the Little Gourmet or even a close-up exterior of this facility. It was only open for about five months until they opened the regular Gourmet Restaurant in February of 1956.

  1. My collection of Disneyland paper is such a hodgepodge of items I often forget what I have. The brochure certainly looked a bit too familiar as I was checking out the scans. I DO have that wonderful brochure in my collection. Thanks Donald for rattling my memory so I can enjoy it all over again, in person. "Los Angeles Union Station is about 30 minutes by private car or taxicab". Yes, as long as the police escort is out in full force and the freeways have been cleared of other traffic.

  2. So Nanook, what else do you have in your Disneyland Hotel collection?

  3. I'm afraid the only other DL Hotel paper I have is the 11/57 brochure, pictured on page 94 of the Disneyland Hotel 1954-1959 book & the Disneyland Hotel Southern California brochure (with the Tower building & 'Disneyland Hotel' sign - so sometime after 1963) on the front, that once completely unfolded, has images of the DL Hotel occupying the top half, and a "map" of So. Cal. along with pics of "Fantastic Disneyland", "Famous Marineland Sea Circus", "Colorful Knott's Berry Farm", a model of the Anaheim Convention Center and the "Anaheim Stadium... Home of California Angels". Oh - and one depicting the "Helicopter Service...On Hotel Grounds". Evidently they ran out of adjectives when it came to the helicopter service.

  4. Whoops - It's so big, I almost forgot... the DL Hotel attraction poster, beautifully framed.

  5. I'm always looking for a paper item which I don't have. They are getting harder to find.
