1999 Big Changes

1999 was a sad year for me concerning the Disneyland Hotel. It was the year that the original structures from the Hotel were to be removed and some very important architectural pieces from Anaheim's history would be gone forever. Think of the many happy moments spent in those rooms....the anticipation of going to the pool or a restaurant or to the Magic Kingdom. The relaxing moments spent there as families were finally relieved from all that walking at the Park. The eagerness of checking in and entering your room. So many happy times. So much history and it was all gone in just over three short months in 1999.

I clearly remember the excitement of arriving at the Hotel in the 1970's. Checking in first...

And then riding in to the park on the Monorail (hopefully Yellow), the excitement of Tomorrowland and that first splashdown on Pirates.

And then returning to the sanctuary that was the Disneyland Hotel...

After a day at the Park, my parents used to leave my brothers and I in our Marina or Bonita Tower hotel room while they dined elegantly at the El Vacquero or Shipyard Inn as happy couples will often do.

Not to worry, my two brothers and I were allowed to order our dinner via Room Service which was a blast!

We all had some of our happiest family times there, I wish it was still in place.

Hope you update your Blog soon...
